Autism Opportunities: Take Action!

26 Days until National Autism Awareness Month, April 2014.

Autism affects over 2 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide. The need for inclusive services, supports and awareness is greater than ever. We are currently preparing to celebrate National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM) in April 2014. This event, established in the 1970s will highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism. April is a special opportunity for everyone to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community.

During National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM) we will be sharing examples of individuals and organizations doing work in their communities to make a “Better World for Autism” with national media partners and audiences. We know there are so many exemplary actions being taken every day in your communities to improve the lives with autism and we want to learn about them! Stories, sources, links and images that fit the narratives and information received by the Autism Society may be utilized in national media pitches, social media content, Autism Society blogs, e-newsletters and magazines during April 2014 and beyond. You can email your ideas and content to aparker@autism-society.org.

Visit our National Autism Awareness Month webpage often as we add more information on how you can celebrate and materials and resources to hold your own Autism Awareness event in your hometown. One of the easiest ways to mark this special month is to wear one of the Autism Society’s Autism Awareness Puzzle Ribbons. Visit our shop. Ready.Set.Go.—Put on the Puzzle!
