Medicaid clarifies autism services, waiver rules

CMS clarification bulletin

In an effort to make therapies and services more available for people with autism spectrum disorder, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have released a notice explaining the rules on autism-related Medicaid coverage for children and adolescents.

This CMS bulletin, released Monday, is intended to inform practitioners about the services covered by the Medicaid state plan and how to qualify for coverage. The clarification might also affect waiver eligibility for certain services.
