Talk to your representative about the ABLE Act
The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act of 2013, H.R. 647, would allow people with disabilities or their families to put aside tax-free savings for education expenses, employment support, housing charges, health needs, legal fees, assistive technology and more. Not only will these savings not be taxed, making it easier to build up a reserve for the future, but the ABLE Act allows people to save more while still receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid benefits. The act was sent to the House floor just before Congress adjourned for August recess. It enjoys support among Democrats and Republicans, but it’s important that our community add its voice!
