Autism NOW to Present Webinars in July

July 12, 2012
By Autism Society

The Autism NOW center has planned the following webinars for this month:

Personal Space while Sharing a Space
Tuesday, July 17, 2012
2:00 to 3:00 PM EDT

Sharing a home with someone else, whether it’s a friend or a partner, may not be the easiest thing at times! Roommates not only have to adjust to living together, but must also learn to communicate effectively, which can be challenging for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Using her own live-in relationship with her partner, who is also on the autism spectrum, and her experiences with various roommates, Leah Grantham will offer suggestions for people who are moving in with a romantic partner or living with someone who isn't a relative or a caretaker. Listen in to learn more about setting up boundaries, negotiating personal space, handling common issues that may arise, and enabling one's independence through the help of others!
