Autism Society 42nd Conference and Exhibition a Success!

July 14, 2011
By Autism Society

Thank you to everyone who made the 2011 National Conference so successful.  Autism Society members, parents, individuals on the spectrum, educators, doctors, bloggers and politicians were in the crowd of more than 1,000 people in attendance and an exhibition hall of approximately 100 autism-related businesses and service providers.

The Autism Society’s 42nd National Conference on Autism Spectrum Disorders is one of the largest autism conferences in the nation and the only one that covers wide-ranging issues from birth through adulthood. This year,  the Autism Society had three outstanding keynote sessions from Ami Klin, director of the Marcus Autism Center;  New York Times best-selling author Shonda Schilling, wife of retired Boston Red Sox All-Star Curt Schilling; and a panel featuring Tracy Thresher and Larry Bissonnette, the stars of this spring’s most popular autism documentary, Wretches & Jabberers.

Poster sessions and more than 100 breakout sessions led by expert presenters provided current and innovative information, fostered new approaches and shared best practices. Sessions focused on the latest research and evidence-based practice related to early intervention, education, behavior, communication, legal issues, instructional techniques, employment, biomedical issues and more.

The Autism Society would especially like to thank its sponsors: AMC Theatres, Eden Autism Services, Seaside Therapeutics, MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning, Easter Seals, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, Vizzle, Baylor College of Medicine, the College Internship Program and the Autism Research Institute.

Conference recordings will be available within a few weeks; advance sales are now being accepted at www.autism-society.org/conference
