Autism Society to Hold Afternoon on the Hill

January 12, 2012
By Autism Society

As a part of an ongoing commitment to represent the rights and needs of individuals affected by autism, the Autism Society will hold an afternoon of advocacy on Capitol Hill in February. Autism Society chapter leaders nationwide will come to Washington, D.C. to advocate on behalf of the issues most important to families living with autism today. Activities will include a meeting with various Senate and House of Representatives staff about the best ways to present public policy issues and concerns and to develop strong working relationships with Congressional members and staff.

The intent of the Afternoon on the Hill is not specifically to advocate for any one piece of legislation, but rather to use the time on the Hill for Autism Society advocates nationwide to create positive relationships with their representatives over the common goal of improving the lives of all affected by autism.
