The Autism Society is honored to announce that Dr. Tom Insel, Director of the National Institute of Mental Health, will be addressing the general assembly at our 44th Annual National Conference, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, July 10-13.
Dr. Insel currently serves as the Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the component of the National Institute of Health charged with generating the knowledge needed to understand, treat, and prevent mental disorders. His tenure at NIMH has been distinguished by the groundbreaking findings in the areas of practical clinical trials, autism research, and the role of genetics in mental illness. In his capacity as the Director of NIMH, Dr. Insel serves of the Chairman of the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC).
