What we've been doing

The Summer Program for Educating Autistic Kids (SPEAK) was held during the month of July, and hosted over 80 students for daily community-based instruction.  We are so proud of our excellent and professional staff and our fabulous SPEAK attendees who learned much as they addressed IEP and community-based speech goals throughout the Pittsburgh area.  Interested in finding out about this for 2010?  It's never too early to call Terry Conner in our office, our great program manager for SPEAK.

Over the past month or so we've also been working to maintain Governor Rendell's autism budget, including desparately needed adult services, for 2009-2010.  We've published a newsletter, hosted a support group, initiated plans for an adult bowling league, and are planning to train swim instructors who work with kids on the spectrum.

Additionally, we are writing and planning a DVD and web-hosted training series for the Pennsylvania justice system.

Let us know what your interests or concerns are and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
