Recovered: Journeys Through the Autism Spectrum and Back, a documentary about four children who have recovered from the autism spectrum will premiere Friday, April 25 at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, Calif. Special guests include acclaimed psychologist Dr. Ivar Lovaas, the therapists and families showcased in the documentary, and actor/director Lou Diamond Phillips.
The film was produced by Dr. Doreen Granpeesheh, founder of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) and a member of ASA’s board of directors, and Michele Jaquis, a videographer and editor with experience as an ABA therapist. It presents documentation of therapy sessions along with interviews of the children who are now teenagers, their parents, therapists and Dr. Granpeesheh. Their combined stories illuminate both their struggles and triumphs while providing hope to families of newly diagnosed children that recovery is indeed possible.
Doors open at 7 p.m. with the film beginning at 8. It will be followed by a Q&A session and reception catered by Wolfgang Puck. Reserve your tickets here. A $60 donation is suggested, but tickets are offered for any amount.
