Tips of the Day - Sports
- Avoid going to large sporting events that can be noisy with little warning; open-ended stadiums are quieter than closed stadiums or indoor arenas.
- Stadiums for minor league baseball games are a better choice for a child with sensory issues.
- To familiarize your child with sports, watch different sports on TV.
- Go to a local children’s soccer game; let your child watch from the bleachers or walk around the sidelines.
- Check with Special Olympics or Easter Seals about available local sporting opportunities for children with disabilities.
- Ask your local pool about private swimming lessons.
- Enroll your child in private skating lessons or teach him yourself if you are proficient.
- Take your child tubing at a local ski resort.
